The video that we watched was very upsetting to me. I realize that the police officer was doing his job but he didn't have any compassion to the situation what so ever. I feel that he really abused his power of authority. Once he heard what was going on he should have been understanding and let him go see his mother in law in her last minutes before she died. The officer was just telling him everything that he could do, like give him a ticket, tow his car, and even take him to jail. Instead of just giving him the ticket was was just provoking him to get more upset, because even after Moats was calm and not talking back the police officer just kept on going. I think Moats did a really good job with keeping his cool. Racism was definitely a factor in this incident, if this happened to be a white family i think that things would have ended a lot different. I am glad to hear that the officer has resigned.

yeah, i think so too bout the police officer using his power of authority kinda over board. What he also could do is walk with the family into the hospital see if it is true and let them go. They did keep on talking the hole time so that took over the time too. Moats did keep down on the end.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you. The cop did not a very good job handleling this situation he was just to busy showing of all his power as a police man and did not even have time to listen to Moats. I think that this type and kinds of act are really hard to take care of as a cop but they are ways to do it and manners to apply. I also think that Moats gave a very strong and good example of how to handle himself because not many of us can self control ourselves in situations like this one that he was going thru.
ReplyDeletei gree to what you say but i think that something more than racist played a big role in this situation. i think that the power that a police officer has got to his head and he was just acting as a robot trying to be a police officer. i agree that maot handled the situation very well beacsue then i think that it would of had a different ending. i think that the solution to this situatuion was not the resignedment of the officer it should have been the re trainaining of all the police force to know how to deal in a situation like this.
ReplyDeleteI think that the cop really cross the line and use his authority in a bad way in this situation. The other sad part is that he was also given a "paid" leave after this incident before he resigned. What he did was right in a way that someone is running a red light will definitely get a ticket but knowing that this person has a dying family member, he should have listened and respect them too.
